Opacity masks are a create way to help create that illusion of realism. I used two of my earlier assignments to help with this. The city scape required a lot of editing because I couldn't put the whole scene in the glass, so as you can imagine, my computer crashed AGAIN and AGAIN. At any rate, in the end I was able to create a credible version of a city in a glass globe. For the second picture, I created an opaque multi-colored vase with pink flowers. I used the 3D to create the base, as I did with the globe. Kind of a different look but I think it's effective and hey, you can even see the stems! Fun techniques to work with!
